With 20 years of practice locally as a Consultant in Orthopaedics and Trauma, I offer
a sensible and experienced opinion of the whole range of orthopaedics, with a special
interest and expertise in problems of the hip and knee, especially in joint replacement,
which I have performed 3,300 primary and revision cases locally.
Currently for hips I use the DePuy Corail/'Pinnacle uncemented system, with a
ceramic in metal bearing size 36 mm for the under 70s, and the Exeter cemented
system for the over 70s. Both of these systems have over 30 years of excellent
national and international results.
For knees I use the DePuy LCS (low contact stress) total knee, with over 30 years of
national and international excellent results.
Knee injuries, knee pain and ligament damage of the knee are also of special interest
to me, using the latest technology for arthroscopic surgery of the knee, and for the
anterior cruciate ligament use of the bone-tendon-bone construct (patellar tendon)
since 1992.
I trained at the London Hospital, graduating in 1974 and became a Fellow of the
Royal College of Surgeons in 1979.
My orthopaedic training was in the East Midlands (Nottingham and Derby), with time
at the London Hospital with M.A.R.Freeman, and in Melbourne, Australia.
I see patients at the relaxing and historic 1 Queen Square Consulting Rooms, and
operate and perform injections and minor procedures at the BMI Lancaster Hospital.
